Due to MPR capacity, space is limited for this program. To secure your child's spot, please consider being a Volunteer Discussion Leader. You can sign up to be a Volunteer Discussion Leader during Step 5 of the registration process.
PTA's Breakfast Book Club (BBC) is designed to incite the love of reading, and to encourage thoughtful literary discussion among peers. Book club is open to 1st through 5th grade students only.
BBC meets once a month, on a Wednesday morning, before school. A simple breakfast (e.g., bagel, fruit, yogurt, juice) is served at the meeting. Each month, new books are distributed and then discussed at the following month’s meeting. Readers take the books home to read at their leisure (and to keep as their own at the end of the month). Typically, additional, thought-provoking questions, or quick projects are sent home during the month to encourage club members to re-read their book prior to the next meeting.
At the meeting, members are divided into grade level groups for parent led discussions of the reading material. The discussion will help students improve their communications and explanation skills, and experience the joys of reading.
The fee for participating in the Book Club is $80. We do not want financial need to prevent a student from participating in the Book Club. If financial assistance is needed, please contact president@coyotecreekpta.com or Mr. Alpert so we can help.
Also, this program is only successful if we have enough volunteers. Please indicate on the Volunteer Sign-Up page if you would like to lead a group discussion in Book Club.
